“Providing the highest standard of residential care in a friendly and homely environment”

At Cloyda Care Home, we provide high quality residential care for up to 35 elderly residents. A family-run care home, we are proud to have been caring for our local community for over 35 years…

Set within a large, beautifully landscaped garden, our grand 1930s home has been converted, and beautifully furnished, to provide specialist residential care, whilst retaining a cosy and homely atmosphere.

Our skilled and experienced team deliver the highest quality residential care and specialist dementia care, as well as respite short-stays and convalescent care… taking great care to get to know our residents individually, using personalised care planning, and creating a friendly and supportive family home.

WELCOMING NEW RESIDENTS

We are very pleased to be welcoming new residents to Cloyda Care Home.

Working closely with our local health partners, we have specific procedures in place to enable us to accept new residents safely, with minimal risk to residents and staff:

-> All new residents will have been tested in advance and must be negative of Covid-19

-> New residents will complete a 14 day cocooning period when they first arrive. Our team will be on hand 24 hours a day to help you settle in, we will explore your likes and dislikes, personal routines and preferences, and there will be plenty of things to do

COVID-19: KEEPING OUR RESIDENTS SAFE

Our first priority is always our residents’ safety.

Ensuring the health, well-being and comfort of our residents has always been, and continues to be, the most important thing we do.

Our dedicated team work hard to maximise the safety of our residents while keeping life as normal and fulfilling as possible. During these unprecedented times we’ve put extra measures in place for everyone’s safety and well-being:

-> Routine testing for all staff and visiting professionals for symptoms of Covid-19

-> Plentiful supply of PPE for all staff and visitors

-> Enhanced cleaning procedures to prevent the risk of transmission

-> Staff have received additional, focussed training on infection control and PPE use

-> Whole-home vaccination programme

-> Social distancing in place

VACCINATION PROGRAM

All of our residents and staff have been offered the Covid-19 vaccine, and we are pleased to report that all of our residents who gave their consent are fully vaccinated, having received both vaccination injections. Among our team of staff, the vast majority have received the first injection, most of those have received their second injection too.

Latest News

the welcome return of musical entertainers!

[10 June 2021]

Our residents were thoroughly delighted by the Troubadour Productions recent performance of their show “Hooray for Hollywood!” at Cloyda.

Tom and Emma delivered a wonderful show, set post-WWII, about a group of actors trying to make it big in Hollywood, performing classic songs by Nat King Cole, Fred Astaire, Judy Garland, and more. The residents really enjoyed the show, clapping and singing along, and this musical trip down memory lane certainly brought huge smiles all around!

And we certainly look forward to welcoming them back again later this month with their new show, “Holiday Snaps!”

Residents Can now have more visitors

[20 May 2021]

Residents in care homes can now have up to 5 nominated visitors.

As part of the Government’s easing of restrictions, care home residents can now have up to 5 nominated visitors. This comes as very welcome news, and our residents will be eagerly looking forward to seeing more of their family and friends in the coming weeks.

Residents allowed out-of-home visits

[2 May 2021]

The government has announced that (from 4th May) care home residents will now be able to go on low-risk outdoor visits outside of the Home, without needing to self-isolate when they come back.

This is wonderful news for our residents, it means they will be able to visit a friend or family member’s garden, or go for a walk in the park, accompanied by their nominated visitor (whilst of course, continuing to follow the safety measures of washing hands regularly, keeping social distance, and remaining outside.) … If you would like to take a resident outside, and you are their nominated visitor, then please get in touch with us to make the arrangements.

Services

Personalised residential care

We believe that every resident is special and unique, and at Cloyda we provide care which is based specifically on resident’s individual needs, preferences, and abilities – our personalised care plans cover everything from the meals you enjoy, to the hobbies you love and your personal routines.

Of course, some residents will need more support in their daily lives, and others will need just a little help, but in all cases we will work to create the ideal balance between promoting safety and enabling residents to continue living a life of independence, freedom and choice.

Specialist dementia care

We understand the specific challenges faced by people living with memory loss and dementia.

Our friendly team of carers have in-depth knowledge of the different stages and types of dementia, and with extensive experience in dementia care, we are able to provide specialised care and understanding, ensuring that our residents living with dementia and memory loss can continue to lead a fulfilled and dignified lifestyle.

Respite and convalescent care

We understand how tiring it can be for families providing ongoing care, and it is particularly tough for those juggling care responsibilities with a full-time job. Sometimes we all need a rest, and our short-term ‘respite’ care, where loved ones have a short stay in our Home, can provide a crucial break for their carers. This offers family carers the chance to go on holiday or simply have some well-earned time off.

We also provide convalescent care, to help people recuperate after a hospital stay, and to support them to become well enough to go back to their own home.

Whatever the reason for the short stay, you can be sure that your loved one is enjoying professional 24-hour care in a safe and friendly environment.

daily life at cloyda…

Our amazing team of staff work to create a welcoming atmosphere in which residents can enjoy activities, go on outings and make friends with other residents. And let’s not forget the delicious home-cooked meals, freshly prepared everyday by our cooks.

Our residents enjoy something to do everyday: Whether it be fun and games, or having a chat with other residents, or just enjoying a jigsaw puzzle, our dedicated activities co-ordinator organises things to do based on residents’ individual interests and abilities.

We love to be out into the large garden, and dining al-fresco is always enjoyed whenever the weather allows! We also enjoy having get-togethers whatever the occasion!

every birthday is special…

All of our residents are part of the Cloyda family, and whenever we have a birthday we love to celebrate their special day with them.

All the birthday cakes are lovingly made by our cook, and our residents really enjoy sharing their cake with the other residents (and staff!), and singing “Happy birthday!”

Here are the most recent birthdays of our residents.

Our Team

Louise Sutton, our Home Manager

I have been working in Health and Social care for over 20 years, which includes roles from being a carer to an NVQ Assessor and then a manager. I joined Cloyda, as the Home Manager, in 2007. I lead by example, and I believe in treating my team with dignity and respect, and giving them my full support. I love my job, and the highlight of my day is spending quality time with all of our lovely residents, having a chat and making sure they are happy, getting to know their families, and working closely with other professionals to ensure the best possible quality of care.

Every member of our highly experienced team is passionate about delivering superb care to our residents, and making each day special. Above all, they enjoy what they do…

Our amazing team of staff really are everyday “superheroes”.

Our CQC Rating

Our care home is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). They inspect and rate care homes in England, and publish their inspections reports on their website.

We are proud to have received an overall rating of Good from our most recent full inspection on 2nd October 2018. We also received a CQC IPC (Infection Prevention and Control) Review on 12th January 2021, published 18th February 2021, where the CQC were ‘assured’ that we were following the 6 protocols. Please see the link below for both reports.

You can read the full reports here:
https://www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-109019161/reports

Excerpts from our CQC inspection report:

The staff were caring. The atmosphere in the home was calm and friendly. Staff took their time and gave people encouragement whilst supporting them. Throughout the inspection we saw that people had the privacy they needed and were treated with dignity and respect by staff.

Staff had the skills, experience and a good understanding of how to meet people’s needs. We saw that staff encouraged people to make their own decisions and gave them the encouragement, time and support to do so.

Our Care Fees

We deliver quality care at a price that is fair

Our approach is that all residents’ fees are calculated in exactly the same way regardless of how the care is being funded – Local Authority funded, NHS funded, or self-funded. And you can rest assured, all our residents receive the same high quality care.

Pre-admission assessment

Prior to moving into Cloyda Care Home we will carry out a Pre-admission assessment to determine what kind of care you require and how much support you need, and to ensure that the care service that we provide is appropriate for you. A member of our team will meet you, and/or close family, at your home to talk this through with you. We will also tell you a little about our Home, and be able to answer any questions that you may have.

Once the Pre-admissions assessment has been done, it is at this point that we will be able to determine the level of care that you will need (into which Care Band), and your exact weekly fee.

levels of carE

Some of our residents require a greater level of care than others, and so we have created 3 broad care bands, which takes into account the range of different needs of our residents, and set appropriate care fees for each band:

  • Care Band 1: Residents with medium care requirements
  • Care Band 2: Residents with high care requirements
  • Care Band 3: Residents with very high care requirements

For this year (1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025) the weekly fees for each of the Care Bands are as follows:

  • Care Band 1 – from £1070.00 per week (dependent on type of room)
  • Care Band 2 – from £1150.00 per week (dependent on type of room)
  • Care Band 3 – from £1210.00 per week (dependent on type of room)

Once you have spent the first 6 weeks at Cloyda, we will re-assess your care needs, and review your Care Band, to ensure that we are providing the right level of support and care for you. If we feel that you should be in a different Care Band (higher or lower) then we will discuss this with you.

We believe that this approach to setting care fees provides more transparency and consistency.

What the Weekly Fee includes

When you come to Cloyda, you can expect to have:

  • 24-hour person-centred care, such as help with bathing, dressing, mobility, and eating
  • Accommodation that includes your own private fully furnished bedroom
  • Use of all residents’ facilities in a safe, secure, and comfortable environment, including our huge garden
  • Home-cooked meals everyday (there’s always a choice of meals)
  • A variety of activities, entertainment and social events

Healthcare services

For specific healthcare you will continue to have access, via the NHS, to your GP, opticians, dentists, chiropody, etc.

Additional Services

To enjoy life to the fullest we also offer a number of additional services. These services are not included in the weekly fee but we’re happy to arrange any of these for you should you want: services such as hairdressing, beauty therapy and manicures, taxi service for appointments and shopping trips, dry cleaning, and almost anything else that you might want – just ask!

paying for your care

There are various ways to fund your care, including funding from your local authority, NHS funding, and paying for your care yourself (either fully, or a part of it). You may be entitled to assistance with care home fees, but whether you are eligible for some help will depend on your current financial situation, and the type of care that you need. If you are looking for financial assistance then you will need to have your needs and finances assessed, and so one of the first steps will be to get in touch with your local authority.

Please give us a call to discuss your specific care needs, or if you have any questions about paying for your care, and we’ll be happy to help.
